A little writing about writing
In case you were wondering about the source of these literary productions, the majority of them were written during my undergraduate career at Ashland University. A biology major, I wrote a number of scientific papers and a few reports on natural science topics.
The news articles came from my extracurricular experiences on the staff of The Collegian, Ashland University's student-produced newspaper and Pine Whispers, the yearbook.
I was an active writer for The Collegian my freshman year, but drifted more toward the yearbook in the years following. In four years on the staff of Pine Whispers, the student-produced yearbook of Ashland University, I took on a variety of roles, from volunteer caption writer, to photographer, to layout designer, and finally to section editor. Below are some samples of the articles I wrote for this publication. From 2001 to 2004, I was a member of the Student Life staff. In 2005, I became the Sports Section editor; the story topics reflect my job at the time of writing.
Some of the more recent (and sillier) writings listed on this page came from my Words and Images class, which I took in 2007. This class emphasized a fusion of graphic design and writing, and allowed us to choose our own topics.
